This Morning’s Ben Shephard kicked off Monday’s show with an exciting career announcement.

Addressing viewers with his co-host, Cat Deeley, the latter asked: “You’ve had a busy time, haven’t you?”

To which Ben, 50, confirmed: “Very busy weekend! I made my West End debut last night, Cat Deeley, at the Dominion [theatre].

“I was invited by Sharon Marshall [ This Morning soap expert] for the Coronation Street tour, they’re currently doing a theatre tour around the country.
“Last night they were at the Dominion and as a surprise for the amazing Patti Clare, who plays Mary, they brought me onto the stage and we had a meeting.”

Showing a clip of the moment, it sees Ben greeting Mary star Patti, 49, while wearing a blanket covered in pictures of her face and handing her a bunch of roses.
Explaining the blanket, Ben said: “Famously in Corrie, she wore a Ben blanket during lockdown to keep her secure and happy. So I now have a Mary blanket and the question is whether I’ll be able to have…
“What Patti was suggesting was that I need a cameo to go into Preston’s Petals and actually spend the day with Mary on the street in Coronation Street. The audience were quite up for it, I have to say!”

Taking to Twitter, now X, Coronation Street fans were quick to share their thoughts. One person said: “Oh my god!!! It comes as the cast of Coronation Street are currently taking part in An Audience with Coronation Street.
