EastEnders’ Bleu Landau teases Dennis return – six years on from dramatic death scene
Former EastEnders star Bleu Landau has answered fans’ questions about a possible return as Dennis Rickman Jr, teasing that a surprise reappearance couldn’t be ruled out.
Landau, who took over the role of Dennis from Henry Hickles in 2015, has shared his ideas for a Walford comeback, six years after his character died during the soap’s 35th anniversary.
On Instagram, the soap star admitted that returning as Dennis, who drowned back in 2020, would be a “little bit harder”, but insisted that “we can never count [a return] out”.
“Well, obviously as you know if you did watch, Dennis died at the boat party for the 35th anniversary of EastEnders so it’d make it a little bit harder for me to come back,” Landau said in a video.
“However, we know how the show goes, so we can never count it out, can we?” he added before the soap’s iconic closing credits tune played.

While it is unlikely that Dennis could return for a longer stint, having Landau back in a ghost or vision cameo would be just another day in soapland.
Ghost reappearances are quite a popular soap trick, with EastEnders being on exception to the ‘never say never’ rule.

The BBC soap has aired some pretty shocking returns from the dead, with deceased characters delivering a powerful message to another Walford resident in their time of need.
In recent years, EastEnders has seen Rita Simmons reprise the role of Roxy Mitchell as a figment of her daughter Amy’s imagination, while Anita Dobson also returned as The Queen Vic landlady and Dennis Jr’s grandmother Angie Watts during the soap’s 40th anniversary in 2025.
