Coronation Street fans think they have figured out Lisa Swain’s ‘plan’ as they fear an exit could be on the cards for Carla Connor.

Those who follow the ITV soap will know that the couple’s relationship has been rocked by the arrival of Lisa’s wife, Becky Swain, who after she emerged from the ‘dead’.

In a shock turn of events, Becky turned up in the living room of Lisa and her new fiancée Carla’s home, No.6 Coronation Street, on their daughter, Betsy’s, 18th birthday, despite her devastated family thinking she had died in line of duty four years ago.

With Lisa struggling to understand why her death was faked, Becky explained that she had spent the last four years in Spain under another name after being put into witness protection, following an undercover operation gone wrong.

Since then, Lisa has clearly been battling with her feelings, while also trying to get to the truth of what really happened. She confronted her boss, DI Costello, but he confirmed Becky’s version of events, despite their being suspicion over whether he can be trusted.

Meanwhile, Carla has been trying her best to support her partner, particularly as Becky keeps showing up in their home, but while Lisa didn’t want Betsy to know about Becky’s return from the dead, she found out anyway and while it’s been a rocky reunion, Betsy is seemingly warming to her being around.

As seen during Wednesday (September 24) trip to the cobbles, Betsy skipped college to spend time reconnecting with her other mum. When Becky attempted to lecture Betsy on her behaviour of late, Betsy said she had no right to parent her after disappearing from her life and stormed off.

Becky returned to No.6 where she was faced with Carla, who snapped at Becky and told her to ‘go back to being dead’. She, however, didn’t listen and later headed back to talk to Lisa. When Betsy arrived, she was furious that her mum had let Becky in and ordered her to leave.

But when Becky gave her a handful of cards, revealing that while she was away, she had written a card for every one of Betsy’s birthdays she missed, saying what she wished she could tell her in person, Betsy softened and told her mum to stay.

Later, Carla seemed put out when arrived home to Becky helping Betsy and Lisa in the kitchen. The Underworld factory boss said it was fine as Lisa said she couldn’t deny her daughter time with Becky, but the sad look on her face told a different story.

While some Corrie fans are hoping Lisa is playing a game with Becky, others are fearing that it’s not all part of a bigger plan and that she’ll force Carla away – albeit temporarily.

@mel_wickenden suggested: “Theory No 1 Let’s say it’s a set up and Lisa is playing Becky, (exposing her corruption in the end) – but failed to inform Carla of her plan. Its possible Lisa’s plan will backfire, terribly. Carla will think the worst, but eventually find out it was set up by Lisa. #Swarla.”

@AlisonSelw60139 replied: “I honestly do believe it’s a set up, Lisa needs Carla’s reactions with Becky to be genuine. And to show Becky her plan of causing problems/rows between Carla & Lisa is working. Carla next week getting mad & then storming off should do it. Lisa will then tell Carla of her plan.”
