Michael asks Cane why Victor was there.

Cane says that Victor made him an offer he couldn’t refuse… Yet he refused!

Michael says Victor told him it was a mistake to work for Cane; was he right?

Cane wonders if Michael is ready to bring the fight back to Victor.

Michael says that he still considers Victor a friend, but his personal feelings won’t get in the way of him doing his job… But he needs to know what the plan is!

Cane asks if he’s done the task that he set for him; did he take care of Billy Abbott?

Michael says talking sense into Billy isn’t something that can be done in one sitting.

Cane nods. So Billy is still a threat!

Michael says it needs to be handled with some finesse. He’ll fix the problem, but it will take a bit. He says Billy told him he was his replacement in the organization; was he? He asks again to know more details of the plan.

Cane doesn’t tell him anything about the plan. He says Lily seems to be one of the only ones not to see him as a villain. He asks Michael how he’d classify him… As a hero, or a villain?

Michael shrugs. It’s not always so black and white, but villains are always more interesting!

Cane asks how he’d rate Phyllis on the same scale… Hero, or villain?

Michael laughs. He doesn’t think his old friend would appreciate that. She’s one of a kind! She’s been shut out by a lot of people in town; he doesn’t want her to get hurt.

Cane says he has no intention of using Phyllis or anyone.

Michael reminds him there’s a buzz around town that Cane came back to Genoa City to take over the legacy companies in town. People are fearful and apprehensive of him! He asks if Cane has any other concerns.

Cane wants to know the real reason Michael accepted the job.

Michael says he plans to advise Cane so that he can avoid hurting the people Michael cares about.

Cane doesn’t think he can stop him from doing what he wants.

Michael isn’t so sure. He asks who Cane really wants to impress… This is all for Lily! Michael says he’s looking out for Cane’s best interests, too. Humans need nurturing relationships with others to survive. He can’t hurt everyone he loves!

Cane says he needs allies, not a life coach. He was hoping he’d be able to share his success with Michael, but he’s not the man he thought he was. He doesn’t want to compromise Michael’s integrity!

Michael sighs. He’s being fired?

Cane tells him to take the high road and not to look back.

Michael asks if there’s anything he could say to make him reconsider.

Cane says it’d be wrong to ask him to stay if Michael would try to work against him. He’s respected his skills as a lawyer, but now he respects him as a man.

Michael smiles. He’s had bosses say worse when they fired him before! He says that since he wasn’t able to do the right thing from the inside, he’ll do everything he can to stop him from the outside!

Cane nods. He’d expect nothing less!
