It looks like we’ve come to the end of Claire’s latest chapter on The Young and the Restless. On Monday’s episode, she told Kyle that it was time for a break — not forever, maybe, but certainly for now! And that’s fair enough since nothing is forever in daytime and couples seem to find a way back together again no matter how many times they break up. But this certainly seems like an end to… let’s just say, Claire’s Pollyanna phase!

Because since breaking free from sociopathic Aunt Jordan’s influence and hooking up with Kyle, Claire’s whiplashed from troubled, dangerous schemer, to someone so naive and sweet we were getting a toothache. She, as she pointed out to Kyle, jumped straight from Aunt Jordan to diving headfirst into a relationship with him. She hasn’t had a chance to breathe or make her own choices or mistakes.

Which is where Holden comes in! If we’re being honest, Claire’s a whole lot more with him than Kyle, and we can’t say we’re upset that she wasted no time in calling him to see if his Los Angeles invitation was still open. We all know she’s got a darker, more dangerous side than what she’s been showing, and maybe Holden will let her break it out a bit — in a healthy way!

Claire doesn’t need to turn back into a villain or go the psychopath route, but there’s got to be a better way for her to live on the edge a bit more than she has been! She spent her life being told who she should be and how she should act under her aunt’s thumb, so now Claire’s struggling to figure that out on her own. And if she gets to have more fun in the process and we, in turn, get to enjoy watching her figure it out, then that’s a win-win for everyone!
