TINA’S TEARS CBB’s Tina Malone breaks down in tears live on GMB and she reveals husband tried to take his life twice before he died
The actress previously shared the heartbreaking final text from Paul
CELEBRITY Big Brother star Tina Malone was seen breaking down in tears live on GMB this morning.
The actress, 62, became upset as she opened up about her late husband Paul Chase’s tragic death and revealed how he tried to take his life twice before he died.
Army veteran Paul was only 41 when he passed away, having battled with PTSD from his experiences at war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Today Tina appeared on Good Morning Britain to talk about calling for the government for more help for veterans suffering from mental health issues after being in service.
Talking to hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, she tearfully revealed the extend of Paul’s PTSD in the year leading up to his death.
“He tried to take his life twice in 2023, a year before he died,” Tina told viewers.
She then started to cry and Susanna had to comfort her as she talked about Paul’s PTSD battle and the lack of help he received.
Tina revealed Paul died on May 18, 2024.
At the time the grief-stricken star wrote on X: “It’s with total heartbreak I write this my husband Paul chase Malone passed away this morning we are totally devastated.”
Speaking last month on of the Suddenly Single podcast, Tina heartbreakingly said she “can’t wait” for the day she is reunited with her beloved Paul.
“I carry [his last texts] with me. One said he would find ways to contact me [from the other side] and he has done,” Tina said.
“I relish the thought of dying and I know that sounds kind of crazy [so I can see him again].
“If I didn’t have Flame [her daughter], I wouldn’t be here now.”
Best magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Siobhan Wykes asked: “Do you really believe so?”
A confident Tina replied: “Absolutely. With pure joy. I can say that rationally, and everything else.”
Tina shares 11-year-old daughter Flame with Paul.
“I have to be strong and have to love and protect and ensure my youngest girl fulfils everything in life,” she continued.
“But no, I relish passing over whatever you want to call it, death, whatever. I relish it.”
The Brookside star said: “I welcome the day because I will be with him again. And that’s all I live for.”
Tina insisted she will “never” date again or have sex with another man.
She said: ‘I will never date again. I’ve had enough good sex in my life to last me a lifetime… I’ve had the greatest sex with quite a few men. The best and the penultimate being with my darling Paul.”
In May, the TV star shared the heartbreaking final text from Paul.
“It’s the first time I’ve said it and confirmed it. Paul did commit suicide. I believe in transparency,” she told The Mirror.
“I’ll never get over it. I miss him so badly and I love him so much. One thing I know… he’s in a better place than here.”
In a cruel twist, she only saw the message as police sat opposite her in the living room of her Liverpool home, having just told her Paul was dead.
She said: “His last texts were sent at about 4am but I have an old phone and they didn’t come through straight away.
“When they finally arrived the police were already at my house breaking the news that he’d gone.”
Paul, who hadn’t come home the night before, wrote tenderly: “Tina, my amazing wife. The most amazing woman I’ve ever met, I love you unconditionally you gave us our beautiful daughter… I love you Flame more than you’ll ever know.”
In a text meant for their daughter Flame, he wrote: “I am sorry I left you, you lit up my life every time I saw you. I’m sorry.”
Tina is now trying to channel her grief into a new charity set up in her husband’s name.
She said: “It’s a very different charity with a board of 12 and it’s going to shine the light on people in poverty, in crisis, in need, who need cold, hard, cash.
“It’s the hardest time of my life, but I have to bring some positivity out of this.
“We have to talk more about suicide – that’s why I am speaking out now.
“It is the biggest cause of death in men under the age of 50 but there is still a stigma around it; there’s not enough support.
“But I don’t want Flame to be defined as the daughter of a man who took his own life, but as the daughter of a wonderful dad and a man who served his country.”
