It all begins when Ben’s mother, Kathy Beale, sees Callum Highway and Johnny Carter kissing. Callum had earlier asked Johnny to stay away from his dad’s funeral. He feared that everyone would get suspicious. However, now a member of the Mitchell family knows their truth. Kathy wastes no time and informs the rest of the Mitchell family.
Phil, Billy, Ian, Honey, and Harvey are all shocked by Callum’s betrayal. They confront him over his infidelity. However, Callum doesn’t back down. He even speaks about some truths that the Mitchells are not comfortable with. Tony Clay, who plays Callum, explains that this confrontation forced him to see who actually supported him. Everyone supported Ben over Callum.
However, the truth is that after Ben’s prison, Callum has been looking after his daughter Lexi all alone. And it was Johnny who was there for him during this time. Callum understood that he wanted to be in a stable relationship.
And his relationship with Ben was full of chaos. At the end, Callum makes a decision. He says he wants Johnny by his side during the funeral. And Kathy and Phil agree not to reveal the secret to Ben, only if Callum himself confesses it to Ben after the funeral. Callum was hopeful that he could manage both relationships for the time being without any fallout.
Callum thinks he can handle the situation, unaware of what will happen next. Ben came to the funeral unannounced. He informs Kathy and Phil that he has been transferred from an American prison to a UK facility. He also said that he is here on a one-day release. Callum was shocked to see Ben. All the plans that he had made with Johnny were in trouble now.
Even Stuart Highway returns for his father’s funeral. And Johnny and Stuart try hard to keep Callum’s secret hidden. However, Callum knew that he wouldn’t be able to hide the truth for long.. Ben will make only a brief stint on the BBC soap. It would be eye-opening to discover whether this will be the end of Ballum or if reconciliation remains an option.
