Coronation Street has aired a sinister cliffhanger involving Theo Silverton that could spell danger for Todd Grimshaw and Billy Mayhew.

Todd and Theo’s relationship has been strained in recent weeks, with the latter showing signs of coercive control and abuse as he attempts to keep Todd away from his good friend and ex Billy.

In today’s episode, Theo prepared for the funeral of Noah Hedley, asking Todd if he could be there to support him. Todd said he was unavailable as George had booked two funerals, though this was a lie.

Todd actually had an appointment at the hospital to check for bowel cancer but chose not to tell Theo as he thought he had enough on his plate.

As they headed to the café, Todd urged George to keep up the ruse, though Theo had already begun grilling everybody involved. Todd headed to the hospital with Billy, who offered to go with him.

Todd and Billy went back to the Rovers after their visit to the hospital. Theo walked in at an inopportune moment and was annoyed to spot the pair. He grilled Todd and Billy about their day, but Todd evaded the subject.

After Todd took George up on his offer of a double date with Christina at the bistro, Theo’s mood worsened and he continued to grill Todd and Billy for answers.

When Christina made one too many barbs at Theo’s controlling nature, Todd took offence and he and Theo left the pub.

Returning home, Theo said he was excited about Todd sticking up for him, but the mood soon soured as he saw that Billy had texted Todd. A darkened look came over Theo’s face as the episode ended – what has Theo got planned for the pair?

Todd and Theo aren’t the only couple to be going through a rough patch in Weatherfield, with Carla Connor and Lisa Swain hitting some rocky ground following the arrival of the Lisa’s late wife, Becky.

Speaking amid the dramatic storyline, Amy Cudden – who portrays Becky – shared that her character will attempt to drive a wedge between Carla and Lisa, though she may have her work cut out.

“It’s a threat, but if you look at the person that’s being threatened – we’re talking about Carla Connor! They don’t come tougher,” said the actor. “We get this really, really fun tension between two very determined women fighting over the same love.”
