The policeman is going against his good morals after shooting Zoe Slater

EastEnders fans are claiming that they’ve ‘worked out’ Jack Branning’s ‘corrupt’ future after being left ‘baffled’ by a blunder he made.

The Albert Square policeman has been trying to get to the bottom of what Ravi Gulati is up to for a number of months, unaware that his former love rival is selling drugs in Kojo Asare’s basement.

Things escalated last week when Jack and Ravi battled over Okie’s gun, accidentally shooting Zoe Slater after tussling on the ground.

Jack decided to keep what he did a secret, heading to the hospital to see if Zoe was okay, but failing to tell her family that he is the reason she’s in hospital.

In scenes aired on Monday (September 8), Jack continued to consider his next move, but it was clear his wife Denise Fox is suspicious.

Later, Jack’s colleague DS Spencer arrived to discuss recent events, but he lied about his whereabouts on the night of the shooting.

As Denise grilled Jack about what really happened, Ravi was pulled in for questioning by the police, where he tested his luck by telling them that Jack is his alibi as they were together when the shooting occurred.

Panicking at what to do, Jack informed his colleagues that he was trying to recruit Ravi as an informant, before he later agreed to getting rid of the gun with Ravi, only to have a last minute change of heart.

The episode ended in shocking fashion, with DS Spencer urging Jack to help her bring Ravi down. Realising that this is the solution to his issue, Jack has agreed to go after Ravi, seeking to frame him for the crime they committed together.

While EastEnders fans on social media are excited to see what happens with Jack moving forward, many on X couldn’t look past the reveal of what the password for the safe containing the gun was.

Yes Ravi isn’t a saint – he’s got a lot more to lose following his drug dealing but Jack’s got away with so much – it’s about time he paid the price.” @sigbinss added: “Oh jack is finished & i hate that for him #Eastenders.”

@Nath_2389 wrote: “Oh are we FINALLY investigating bent copper Jack Branning? #EastEnders.” @JimothyShondell posted: “So Jack, who is an experienced Detective Inspector and whom also dabbles in illegal activities, has his safe password as 1234?! #Eastenders.”

@liviciousx commented: “Oh for goodness sake, of course the code to Jack’s safe is 1234, there’s not a single competent police officer in soap land #EastEnders.” @annalisekeatinq noted: “Jack Branning becoming more evil and going off the deep end, doing illegal work to provide for his family, after officially losing his job in the police force??? yeah, i need to see that, i’m afraid.”

If the pressure Jack’s facing wasn’t bad enough, he’s yet to discover that his brother Max Branning is due back in Walford imminently.
