EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer has opened up about a situation that impacted her career in America.

The star, best known for her role as Bianca Jackson in the BBC One soap, moved to Los Angeles in 2014. She faced many challenges when she got there, including confronting a ‘rude’ agent.

Pondering over the early months she was in the States, Patsy said: ‘Lots of things happened when I got there, a series of events. I was supposed to be doing a sitcom – didn’t happen – so we stayed. We thought we’ll give it a go anyway’.

‘I had a big agent. Straight away, it turned out that he was like everything that I’d watched in a sitcom of America.’

Continuing her chat on the Feel It In Your Soul podcast, Patsy added: ‘I can be quite outspoken and people can think that I’m confrontational, but I’m not. It takes a lot for me to say what I think. But this guy – straightaway, I thought he was so rude. Really rude.

‘He was a typical “You’ll never work in this town again.” Just because I answered him back, like, “How dare you speak to me like that! Who are you? I’ve just arrived here”.’

The star went on to explain that the showdown with the agent had a serious impact on her career.

‘My agent [in the UK] at the time didn’t really want to represent me anymore because I’d had this argument with this agent there. Their relationships with the US agents were clearly more important than the one I’d had with my agent for ten years’, she revealed.

‘I realised in this industry no one gives a s*** really about anyone at the end of the day. I started really looking at who am I? It was a lot of revelations I was having about the industry, about my career, about where I stand.’

Patsy has played the role of Bianca in EastEnders on and off since 1993.

Last year, Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) was reunited with Bianca when she went to Milton Keynes with boyfriend Zack Hudson (James Farrar). They discovered that Bianca had split up with partner Terry, and visited to see how she was doing.

When Bianca returned to Walford, she met Sonia Fowler’s (Natalie Cassidy) partner Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman).

Bianca was suspicious of Reiss for ages due to the strange vibe he gave off.

It was working out that he was responsible for his partner’s death that saw Bianca fall victim to Reiss’ desperate and evil ways, as he managed to hold her hostage in a storage facility for months on end.

The character also played a huge part in the soap’s anniversary celebrations in February. When the Queen Vic exploded, Bianca, Sonia and Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) became trapped inside. Things became even more chaotic when Sonia went into labour, forcing a panicked Bianca and Lauren to help her.

The trio also witnessed Reiss’ death. He managed to enter the pub wreckage, but died when a bath fell on him.

Bianca left Albert Square with Sonia, little Julia and Bex Fowler (Jasmine Armfield) for a new life in Bali.
