Cameron Mathison Breaks Silence as Daughter Left in Tears After Vicious Attacks From GH Fans
General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison’s Daughter Hurt by Fans’ Hateful Comments

We all have characters we love to hate and sometimes that hate goes a little too far. Social media can be a great place to stay connected to your favorite stars and their soaps but it can also be a breeding ground for cruelty and some hurtful words recently left one daytime star’s daughter extremely upset. General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison (Drew) took to his Instagram to relay such an incident that affected his daughter Leila…
“This is a Facetime call I got from Leila and I screen recorded the call but I somehow didn’t get the audio,” Mathison began as a live conversation with his girl played in the background. “I’m just going to give you guys an idea. She was watching my character Drew Cain on General Hospital and I guess it was like a compilation thing on YouTube and [about] me being a horrible human being and then she made the mistake of also reading the comments from people.”
If you engaged with other fans on social media then you’ve likely seen such comments and as you can imagine, they are very hurtful when words of hate cross the line from the reel world into the real one. “There was so much hate and aggression towards mostly my character but partially me too,” he continued then went on to explain, “And she was really upset and it bothered her and it affected her and obviously we’re very close… she Facetime me and… look at that face… she couldn’t handle it. She just couldn’t handle it.”
So, the moral of this sad story is…
“I guess I’m just putting out there that remember when you’re making these comments and saying things about people that they have kids and their families and good friends,” Mathison added. “Obviously everybody’s totally free to say what they want but at the same time, I thought I’d just make this little Instagram reel to encourage people to keep that in mind.”
Many of the actor’s daytime friends jumped into the comments to show their support, including Katelyn MacMullen (Willow), who expressed, “Love you Cam!” and Rory Gibson (Michael) added, “The most kind, chill, generous guy on set.”
And we too encourage those who make posts to always ask themselves, what if this was my child reading these messages? Again, these daytime stars are just doing their jobs and while you can dislike a character, to bash an actor or actress is crossing the line and causes hurt to the people in their real lives.
