Coronation Street fans think another romance may be on the cards, but it spells bad news for a show icon.

Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) hasn’t got the best track record when it comes to relationships, and fans of the ITV soap fear that her latest romance is set to end in a betrayal of the worst kind.

The show stalwart is currently dating DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), with the pair having made things official earlier this year.

News of their relationship sent shockwaves through the Platt family and was met with resistance from David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), who was embroiled in an on-going feud with the detective constable.

Things have certainly calmed down since then, with the relationship between Kit and Sarah seemingly going well. Unfortunately, fans don’t expect that to last.

Last week, Kit got a shock when he came face-to-face with Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) in the police interview room, after she was accused of car theft.

After Bethany explained that it had been a misunderstanding, and she had intended to return the car, Kit managed to pull a few strings and get Bethany off the hook.

In the scene that saw Kit drop Bethany back on Coronation Street, fans couldn’t help but notice a spark between them, and took to social media to speculate on an incoming affair.

‘Why am I getting the impression Kit likes Bethany!’ One viewer wrote on Twitter/X, while another replied: ‘I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking this. Mother/Daughter/Kit affair incoming?’

‘Oh god Bethany is gonna sleep with Kit isn’t she,’ a third said, while a fourth added: ‘So how long do we reckon before Kit and Bethany start having an affair?’

This wouldn’t be the first time an infidelity has torn the Platts apart, with Kit having already had an affair with David’s wife, Shona (Julia Goulding).

David and Shona were going through a rough patch when Kit and Shona slept together, and the discovery left David absolutely devastated.

Fortunately, things are back on track for the couple now, with Shona expecting a baby.

Sarah has also been cheated on in the past, with ex-husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) having slept with Carla Connor (Alison King).

However, she isn’t completely innocent herself, having gone on to cheat on Adam with Damon Hay!

Given that earlier this year, Bethany was left wounded by the revelation that fiancé Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) had slept with Daisy Midgeley and may have got her pregnant, would she really put her own mother through the same pain by sleeping with Kit?

Having said that, Kit was also caught up in the Daisy and Daniel debacle, so there is every chance the two could bond over the experience.

We’ve already seen Bethany and Daniel agree that any chance of rekindling their romance is off the table, leaving Bethany free to do whatever she likes. But would she really betray Sarah?
