Coronation Street to reignite Bernie’s huge feud after heartbreaking Asha scenes
Coronation Street is set to reignite Bernie Winter’s huge feud following yesterday’s heartbreaking scenes in which Asha Alahan was found unconscious in Victoria Gardens after attempting to take her own life.
After being rushed to hospital, Asha told her loved ones that she had taken drugs in a suicide attempt. She later told her father Dev that she was glad her plan didn’t work.
Viewers know that Asha has had a devastating few months, with the character being subjected to horrific racist abuse by a member of the public named Naomi while on shift as a paramedic.
Following the traumatic event, Asha elected not to return to work and has since had to drop her complaint against Naomi, who threatened to sue Bernie for defamation after Bernie publicly exposed her racism during a work event.
In scenes set to air on Friday 17 October, Asha returns home from hospital following her attempt to take her own life and it’s clear she’s struggling as she snaps at Dev.

Realising she’s overstepped the mark, Asha apologises to her dad and assures him she’ll be fine on her own.
After curling up on the sofa, Asha pulls a blanket over her head and shuts out the world and Dev confides in Bernie about how fragile Asha is.
Reigniting her feud with Naomi, Bernie tells Dev that she reckons someone should have a word with Naomi before she pushes anyone else to the brink.

Speaking recently about Asha’s suicide attempt, Dev star Jimmi Harkishin said: “She’s a very good grounding factor for Dev. I think she keeps him anchored.
“Maybe that’s what was so upsetting; he just did not expect his daughter to feel like that because she was always just so together and so just level-headed, so anchored in life and so centred.
“That came as a massive shock I think, because she wasn’t running around doing this, doing that, she wasn’t a troubled teenager. She didn’t go off the rails when she was 15-16 years old, or anything like that. She just did everything that she was supposed to. And then this disconnect happens, and it’s very hard to try and gauge it really.”
