Coronation Street’s Helen Flanagan ‘so excited’ as she shares new career move
Helen Flanagan has announced her latest project and fans are excited. The former Coronation Street star has had stints in and out of the spotlight during her career and she will be sharing all about the highs and lows of her life in a new book.
On Instagram, the actress told followers she was “so excited” to share the news about her book. She shared a picture of her book cover and added: “This has been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time now, writing a book around motherhood and mental health and everything in between has been a goal of mine.”
Helen reflected on January 2024 when she became “extremely” unwell, as she described being unable to work or look after her kids and feeling “really powerless”. Her book writing process took off as she when she began to write down what she was experiencing, the TV star found it helped.
Sharing further detail, Helen told followers: “A lot of it didn’t make sense, but some of it did and from that, I wanted to create something positive. So here we are.
“It’s not a doom and gloom book, by the way! Some of it is raw and deep, but it’s also funny (that was really important to me), completely real and I’ve been brave with it. Heartbreak, motherhood, mental health, body image, postnatal depression, PMDD, OCD, ADHD, my Corrie days – it’s all covered here.”
Helen hopes her latest project is something that people can “relate to” and draw comfort from. She finished her message, saying: “I hope it helps you realise you’re not alone.”
In August, the mum-of-three teased the exciting and personal project. The mum of three broke down on Instagram as she explained that her anxiety was bad recently and she was feeling overwhelmed.
The former Coronation Street star shares three children with her ex-partner, Scott Sinclair. They have two daughters together, nine-year-old Matilda, six-year-old Delilah and son Charlie who is three years old. Helen separated from the footballer in 2022 after 13 years together and getting engaged.
Opening up about the emotions she has shown recently, she added: “I don’t usually like to cry but I do like to share my real life on here and actually be myself.”
She said: “I am on a really big shoot today for something really exciting, really exciting. That’s today which I am buzzing about. For me, especially with the kids when the kids are away, my work just saves me, my work is like my everything. I need my work, I need that focus.”
The mum-of-three recently split from ex-footballer Robbie Talbot. Robbie, who used to play for Marine FC had a relationship with Helen during and after her stint on the E4 reality show, Celebs Go Dating, which was broadcast last year.
Helen played the role of Rosie Webster on the Cobbles from 2000 to 2012 and from 2017 to 2018. After going on maternity leave in 2018, she did not return to the role. Despite not being on the soap anymore, she is still a fan favourite and a number of her fans have praised her latest project.
Former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt commented with clapping hand emojis under the new Instagram post and Brooke Vincent, who played her sister on the soap, left a series of red heart emojis.
Fans of the soap star commented “Well done Helen . Can’t wait to read it. So much of your story resonates to me, so really looking forward to the book.”
Another said: “Congratulations. I am sure it will help many many other parents”, while another added: “I was collecting my daughter from her theatre class as you were leaving the Octagon last week. You looked really happy and had such a big smile on your face. We will definitely be buying a copy.”
