Coronation Street star Julia Goulding has revealed that ‘drama’ will still be on the cards despite a seemingly new happy storyline being on the cards for her Weatherfield alter-ego.
It was last week in the ITV soap that David Platt was left stunned by the owner of the positive test that he found. The pregnancy riddle started when Lily Platt told her dad that she had a stomach ache.
Sceptical, David sent her to school anyway. Later, when he moaned to his sister, Sarah, about how Lily had been fighting over some lad and trying to skip school, the Underworld factory manager was concerned.
Despite what was going on at home, David was soon distracted by Carla Connor, who was dumping some recycling outside her new home of No.6 Coronation Street, which she shares with her fiancé.
With the bin wars on going, David was annoyed to find the Underworld factory boss had still been using his bins, but was soon intrigued to find a pregnancy test.

Convinced it belonged to Lisa’s daughter, Betsy, David showed Sarah and offered some snarky comments. But when she suggested it might be Lily’s, his glee turned to horror.
David tried to argue against Sarah’s suggestion, pointing out Lily’s age, but Sarah was quick to remind him that she was the same age as his daughter when she’d given birth to Bethany Platt
After David was called to pick Lily up from school, after she was caught fighting over boys with a classmate, David went snooping through Lily’s bag. The youngster was horrified and having been confronted by her dad, she confirmed the pregnancy test wasn’t hers.
Sarah headed straight to the cafe to warn Shona Platt David’s mood and later, when she got home from work, she railed at her husband for confronting Lily, as she revealed that the pregnancy test was hers and that they are expecting their first child together.

But speaking at the recent National Television Awards, while Julia shared her excitement for Shona’s new storyline, she hinted that it’s going to create a big challenge for the Platts.
She told Digital Spy: “I feel like I’ve been pregnant for the last five years of my life, to be honest, having my own two! But no, I’m really excited. There’s going to be lots of drama along the way,” she said.
“Obviously I can’t tell you too much about what happens – if anything does happen, who knows? But I’m really excited to see this next chapter as Shona and David try to handle it.”
Fans were happy for the couple as the baby news come after a tumultuous period for the pair, which saw Gail Platt leave Weatherfield, Shona cheat on David with Kit Green and their family home being burnt down in a botched insurance scam by David’s stepson, Max, which resulted in him going to prison.
