EastEnders fans are saying that ‘it’s time to end’ Jack Branning and Ravi Gulati’s rivalry after a shock reveal in Albert Square.

Policeman Jack has been against Ravi for a number of months, having been in a love triangle with him and his wife Denise Fox earlier in the year.

After viewers voted for him and Denise to remain together, Jack has been trying to get to the bottom of Ravi’s criminal activities.

Unaware that Ravi is selling drugs in Kojo Asare’s basement, Jack got into a fight with Ravi last week over a stolen gun, leading to Zoe Slater getting shot.

This week’s action has centred around Jack questioning his morals over whether or not to risk his job and reveal that he was behind the returning character’s injuries.

At the end of Monday’s (September 8) episode, Jack decided that he would try to put all the blame on Ravi, despite telling his colleagues that he was an undercover informant.

In scenes aired on Tuesday (September 9), Ravi cornered Jack in the Square after he was a no-show for their arranged meeting.

Jack remained adamant that he was going to dispose of the gun, before ordering Ravi away from Walford to act as a decoy for the police.

Attempting to sneak into Ravi’s home to plant the gun, Jack had to hide behind a door after Priya Nandra-Hart returned home without any warning.

Denise questioned Jack later after spotting the flat keys on the side, but Jack said that he was fixing their faulty boiler. With Denise mentioning this to Priya, Ravi put two and two together and confronted Jack about the gun.

Not satisfied with Jack’s answer, Ravi proceeded to reveal all to Denise about Jack’s involvement in the shooting, but whether she believes it remains to be seen.

Those who watched the episode at home took to the EastEnders Reddit page following the episode to share their frustration with the storyline and Jack’s questionable detective skills.

@polleee997 said: “First the code of 1234 on his safe? Really??! It’s not like he was hiding a dangerous weapon or important evidence was it?! Then the planting of the gun, let’s put on gloves in broad daylight so anyone can see something shifty is going on! Bet it took Ravi two seconds to find it too – I mean who would hide anything under their bed?”

@MissKoalaBag added: “The way he hid behind the door in todays episode, too. Like he was a master of stealth.”

@Ok-Voice4104 wrote: “The writers need to end Jack as cop already. He always comes off as a bent copper, plus he sucks as one. We’re supposed to be on his side.” @DanielCollinsYT stated: “Having 1234 as a password and stashing a gun under Ravi’s bed… Jack might be the dumbest detective that ever lived.”

@Tennents_N_Grouse commented: “FFS this gun storyline is dumb. Why don’t they just disassemble the firearm and dispose of the parts separately.” @ElevensMelody noted: “I’m not feeling gangster Ravi this time around. It feels a bit flat. It was so much better when he first arrived on the square.”
