EastEnders fans were left saying ‘what a mess’ as Nicola Mitchell’s pregnancy was confirmed in a major twist on the BBC soap.

Laura Doddington’s character has been a popular presence among fans since arriving in Walford last year.

It was soon revealed that Nicola was hiding dark secrets from her past, including that she killed her son Harry Mitchell’s girlfriend Shireen Bashar, who had been missing for three years.

Currently running wine bar Harry’s Barn, Nicola recently began seeing George Knight after they shared some of their past troubles.

After taking a quick break away from Albert Square, Nicola returned to the soap on Wednesday (November 6) after learning that Harry was kidnapped.

Despite warning Harry not to talk to the police about what happened to him, Nicola’s son decided to reveal that it was Ravi Gulati and Okie who were behind the drugs being sold in the town.

Ravi was arrested for supplying drugs and human trafficking, despite informing Okie to release Harry prior to going on holiday.

In scenes aired on Thursday night (November 6), Harry received a cold reception back in the Square as Junior, George and his girlfriend Gina Knight shared their anger towards him.

Trying to build bridges with George, who doesn’t like Harry being friends with his brother Kojo Asare, Nicola was stunned when he called time on their relationship.

While this was going on, Ravi offered to give the police the names of criminals provided he walked away from the situation a free man.

However, Ravi was left horrified when the police agreed on the basis that he becomes an informant for them and his enemy Jack Branning.

In one of the most shocking cliffhangers of the year, Nicola learned that she was pregnant after taking a pregnancy test as the credits began to roll.

EastEnders fans watching the episode at home rushed to X, previously known as Twitter, following the episode to have their say on the new storyline.
