EastEnders officially begins new Suki and Eve story – but there’s one big concern

The reunion between Eve and Suki Panesar-Unwin seemed to be full-steam ahead on EastEnders tonight, with the reunited couple agreeing to look into the possibility of adopting a child. But are both of them fully happy with the idea?

After Eve (Heather Peace) dropped the bombshell earlier this week that she wants to explore the possibility, today’s instalment saw Suki (Strictly Come Dancing‘s Balvinder Sopal) doing a little research of her own. But she was caught by a nosey Priya (Sophie Khan Levy).

She and Vinny (Shiv Jalota) both made it very clear that they’re against the notion of Suki becoming a mother again, and their words clearly left the matriarch rattled.

“How many more lives do you wanna ruin?” Vinny asked.

Priya added: “You are literally the worst parent ever. Your warped mind has already messed up way too many kids.”

With Suki clearly struck, Vinny added: “She’s got a point. Adopting a kid is the worst thing that you could do.”

Suki then paid Eve a visit. She seemed quietly overwhelmed when Eve went into detail about how thorough the process would be. Suki asked Eve if parenthood is “a deal-breaker” for her in their rekindled relationship, and though Eve insisted it isn’t, it became abundantly clear that it means a great deal to her.

“OK. We’ll explore it,” Suki said as the pair embraced.

But as Suki warily eyed some nearby adoption leaflets, it became clear that she has some serious reservations. Have her family’s harsh words given her major doubts? And how much will this disrupt the couple’s reconciliation?

A source previously told Digital Spy of the storyline: “Suki truly loves Eve, but this is a huge decision – having a child would change their whole lives.

“Their marriage hasn’t been on very solid ground lately, and Suki’s existing kids don’t think much of her mothering ability, so it may not be the right step right now. However, Suki just wants Eve to be happy, and to fulfil her goal of being a mum.”

Elsewhere on tonight’s episode, Ben Mitchell’s brief comeback came to a conclusion.

When the incarcerated character finally learned of dad Phil’s (Steve McFadden) mental health struggles, it led to an emotional breakthrough. He admitted that he didn’t know how to make it through prison knowing that Callum (Tony Clay) has started a new romance with Johnny (Charlie Suff).

In response, Phil urged him to concentrate on daughter Lexi and promised to bring her for visits when he’s transferred to a Manchester prison.

The scene marked the end of actor Max Bowden’s return stint, his first since exiting as a full-time regular in March 2024.
