Sherrie Hewson is eyeing up a potential stint on EastEnders following her character’s shocking demise on Hollyoaks this week.

The Loose Women favourite, 75, portrayed Martha Blake on the Channel 4 soap for 17 months before meeting her brutal end at the hands of serial killer son Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield).

Reflecting on her final scenes, which were broadcast last week, Sherrie revealed: “It was quite spectacular, unexpected and it was horrific more than anything else.”

The actress previously brought Maureen Holdsworth to life in Coronation Street between 1993 and 1997, returning briefly in 2006, and also played Lesley Meredith in Emmerdale from 2004 to 2006.
