Is Kevin leaving Coronation Street? Fans ‘work out’ Michael Le Vell’s exit after Abi split

Coronation Street’s Kevin Webster could be set for a heartbreaking exit after 40 years since his first episode on the ITV soap

Coronation Street fans reckon the soap could be bidding farewell to Kevin Webster soon.

It’s fair to say Kevin (Michael Le Vell) – who made his debut way back in 1983 – has had a difficult time on the long-running programme recently. This year, his life was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

His loved ones soon rallied around, including wife Abi (Sally Carman) and sister Debbie (Sue Devaney) who was dealt her own heartbreaking health ordeal when she was diagnosed with vascular dementia.

What’s more, Kevin and Debbie’s brother Carl (Jonathan Howard) made his debut too, after living in Germany for several years. However, it didn’t take long for Carl to cause some drama.

Kevin’s wife Abi ended up falling for Carl, despite fighting her feelings for her brother-in-law. And soon enough, the pair eventually gave in to temptation and have secretly been seeing each other, spurred on by Abi finding out Kevin lied about still having cancer.

Carl and Abi were eventually caught out by Kevin’s sister Debbie, who was left furious at the betrayal. But despite her anger, she promised not to say anything to Kevin for the sake of his kids.

In Wednesday’s episode (October 8) though, Kevin found out all about Abi and his brother’s shenanigans, after a huge blunder by Abi while at a family birthday party.

Kevin was livid at the discovery, and after cooling down, he shared a heart-to-heart with Abi. Still in love with his wife, Kevin even suggested that they stick together and move forward. But much to his heartbreak, Sally insisted that she is in love with Carl.

Meanwhile Debbie consoled Kevin later on, but she failed to tell him she was already aware of Abi and Carl’s affair.

But now, in what would be a devastating twist, fans fear an exit is on the cards for Kevin. On a Corrie Facebook fan page one person wrote: “Are they building up to a male suicide storyline for Kevin?”

Another added: “They could be. Like what they did Aidan,” referring to Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) taking his life in 2018. A third agreed: “I was thinking that, with everything he’s been through so sad.” Someone else declared: “I bloody hope not, he’s better off without Abi!”
