Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon has insisted that she didn’t slip up by revealing co-star Amy Cudden’s casting.

The actress, 29, returned to her Bethany Platt role last week after taking most of the year out of the ITV soap.

This was to coincide with her maternity leave, as she’s now mum to her second child – a little girl called Nancy Margaret.

Lucy had only been back on the cobbles a year, and during that time was at the centre of several huge storylines.

Bethany wasted no time in reconnecting with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), and before long came face to face with her abuser Nathan Curtis (Christopher Parker) when he was released from prison.

Later in the year she underwent botched plastic surgery in Turkey – a storyline that Metro exclusively revealed.

She was left needing a permanent stoma bag after she developed sepsis during her operation.

Finally, on Christmas Day, Daniel proposed to Bethany, which she gladly accepted, unaware that his ex-girlfriend Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) had just found out she was pregnant.

Amid the animosity, Bethany was exploring a new role in London and decided to leave without him.

In July, Lucy confirmed that she was back on set filming new episodes.

Lucy Fallon ‘leaks’ Amy Cudden’s name

It came as no surprise to Corrie fans that Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Carla Connor’s (Alison King) life would be turned upside down by the arrival of the former’s ‘dead’ wife Becky at some point.

It’s a classic soap trait – someone coming back from the dead when they’re very much alive and living in witness protection.

But fan theories were further fuelled by Lucy seemingly confirming that an actress named Amy Cudden, who plays Becky, was joining the show.

In a dressing room snap on her first day back, she wrote: ‘And just like that, she’s back.’ The background showed Amy’s name wrote above a mirror surrounded by lightbulbs.

Now that Amy’s character has been confirmed, Lucy has addressed the blunder.

‘Oh my god, yeah. Someone tagged me in a social post saying, “Lucy Fallon comes back after having a baby and leaks the biggest storyline in Corrie”,’ the actress told The Sun.

‘I was like, ‘What the hell are they talking about? What have I done?” But honestly, nobody would have known what character that name belonged to – it wasn’t even a spoiler at that point.’

Perhaps not, but it didn’t help with the speculation Lucy!

How did Bethany return to Coronation Street?

Ever the troublemaker, Bethany was hauled in for questioning at the police station by Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who was was shocked to find that she had been accused of stealing her boss’s car.

She tried to claim that her manager had such a large collection of vehicles, she wouldn’t have realised that it was missing.

Having quit her magazine publication, she had returned to Weatherfield.

Luckily, Kit managed to get her off the hook and they both agreed not to spill the details to her mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien).

Now back in the area, she was afforded some time to catch-up with Daniel too. Rather harshly, she told him that she wouldn’t go near him again even if he was the last man on Earth.

Brutal.

To her surprise, he agreed, saying that he just wanted to buy her a drink as an apology for hurting her.
