Coronation Street villain Naomi was a big focus on Friday’s episode as Bernie Winter got revenge

Coronation Street aired dramatic scenes on Friday night as Bernie Winter got revenge on villain Naomi.

Soap watchers will recall that only recently paramedic Asha Alahan was part of a special episode that followed her on a shift as a paramedic.

During the episode, Asha was subjected to horrific racist abuse by a woman called Naomi. In scenes earlier this week, Asha, who has not been herself since the harrowing incident, decided to help Ryan Connor with the careers fair at the hotel.

However, Asha was unaware that the guest speaker was the woman who abused her and upon coming face-to-face, Asha was left shaken.

A brave Asha decided to remind Naomi how she tried to help her when she was drunk but in return she was abused and spat upon.

Yet Naomi denied all knowledge and warned Asha against making unfounded allegations. After the confrontation, Asha returned home in tears and told stepmother Bernie about her run in with Naomi and how she played dumb.

After reporting the incident to the police, Bernie confided in husband and Asha’s dad Dev Alahan that according to her police officer son Kit Green, it’s going to be difficult to bring charges against Naomi as they only have Asha’s word for what happened.

Later, at the careers fair, a furious Bernie located Naomi’s laptop and as Naomi took to the stage, clicking on the first slide, she was horrified by what she saw as it exposed her for who she really is.

A proud Bernie then stood up and explained to the shocked audience how Naomi abused Asha, a paramedic and woman of colour.

Meanwhile, Nina Lucas and Amy Barlow filmed the proceedings on their phones while Ryan called a halt to the event.

Having watched the video, Asha confronted her stepmother Bernie for interfering. Meanwhile, Naomi barged into their home and declared that she’s suing Bernie for defamation, vowing to see her in court.

The family were forced to seek legal advice while Asha went out to confront Naomi who threatened her, saying to drop her police report and she’d drop the legal case.

After dropping the police charges, Asha begged Naomi to leave her family alone.

Soap watchers make recognise Naomi actress Melissa Batchelor as she’s been in a series of television shows and rival soaps over the years.

The actress appeared in Emmerdale back in 2019 as Erica, Doctors in 2020 as Donna Jaywick, Hollyoaks in 2022 as D.S. Amaral and EastEnders earlier this year as Amelia.

Other roles include Silent Witness, Code of Silence, I May Destroy You, Top Boy, Benidorm, UGetMe and Casualty.
