Love, Betrayal, and Schemes Intertwine at Society
Michael and Lauren enter the restaurant; he’s rented it for the night! He sees the look on her face and says he thought she’d be up for a night of romance!

Lauren says the last time he made a grand gesture like this, he told her he was quitting working for Victor… So what is it this time?
They sit down, and Michael pours some champagne. He protests innocence and that he’s doing this because he loves her. He only wants to spoil her rotten!
They clink their glasses in a toast. “To restoring the mood!” They kiss and take a sip. He jokes that he’s lucky he married into money.

Lauren laughs and asks if he’s seen Victor lately.
Michael says he doesn’t want to talk about that… He wants to dance! He sweeps her into a romantic slow dance.
After their dance, they sit down and have more champagne as they talk about Christine’s wedding dress.

Michael tells her she’s a fashion genius.
Lauren’s happy for the flattery, but she wants to know where he went after she went to see Christine.
Michael stalls, and suddenly, the music changes. “They’re playing our song!” He asks her to dance again.

Lauren declines. He changed the music just to distract her; he’ll just use the time to make more excuses! She knows he’s keeping a secret!
Michael wonders what he could possibly be hiding from her.
Lauren thinks Victor wants Michael to work for him again, and Michael is considering it but is afraid to tell her. She says she loves that he doesn’t work for Victor anymore; he’s safe now, and that makes her happy! She knows the sacrifices he’s made for her, and she loves him more for it.

Michael promises that Victor isn’t luring him away for anything.
Lauren hopes so. If Michael is lying to her about anything, she won’t forgive him! There’ll be no coming back from this!
Michael doesn’t want anything to come between them. He wanted tonight to make her feel precious, because she’s precious to him.

Lauren calls him a smooth talker and asks him again where he was earlier and what he was doing.
Michael’s phone rings, and Lauren asks who it is. He shows her the phone. It’s Fenmore, their son!

Lauren grabs the phone and they talk to their son. After the call, they laugh and joke. She knows Michael was caught off guard by the call, and begs him to trust her enough to tell her the truth… It’s his last chance to be honest with her!
Michael sighs and finally comes clean. He says that Cane Ashby is trying to destroy Genoa City, and he’s the last person who might be able to stop him!
