Queen legend Brian May forms ‘new group’ – of daffodil planters
EXCLUSIVE: Rocker Brian May has posted a band-style photo of his flower-planting team and reveals their first music video
He introduced the group to the world on Instagram – including a band-style left-to-right photo of the line-up featuring the ‘head gardener’, ‘parish council liaison’, ‘senior digger’ and ‘bulb carer. And he revealed their first music video.
Captioned ‘a day in the life of country folk’ the footage showed them planting some of the 3,000 daffs they have filled the village with.
Brian wrote: “Historic Moment! The first ever Daffodil Day in a Surrey village!
“OK – the secret’s out – this is my new group! Worthy villagers we are – and at the end of a couple of very pleasant but seriously physical days we have planted not one thousand and one but close to 3,000 daffodil bulbs which we hope will burst into fragrant blooms next Spring.
“The project is not quite finished – we have a few bulbs left to plant in pots on a date with some local children. But right now this little gift to the village is quietly settling in beneath the grass on our Church Green.
“Great Team!! Many thanks!!! Bri.”
The news comes after we reported how the ‘love’ of Freddie Mercury’s life said it was “implausible” that he had a secret child. Mary Austin, 74, has told of her “total disbelief” of claims the legendary Queen frontman fathered the youngster accidentally during an “outrageous” fling with a close pal’s wife in 1976 – a year after the band’s iconic single Bohemian Rhapsody topped the charts.
According to forthcoming book Love, Freddie the girl’s existence was a closely-guarded secret known only to Mercury’s inner circle of confidentes – including Mary whom the singer described as “the love of my life”.
But Mary, 74, his former girlfriend and companion from their meeting in 1969 until his 1991 death, has denied any knowledge of the child.
