Tessa meets with Mariah in the visiting room. She thanks her for agreeing to see her and says she misses her. She’s glad that Mariah wasn’t ready to see her the first couple of times she dropped by, but this is an improvement! She says Mariah is beautiful.

Mariah says she’s anything but beautiful, but Tessa lights up the room.

Tessa asks if staying inside is helping her. She thinks Mariah might be getting worse.

Mariah doesn’t say anything as Tessa tries to entertain her with some playing cards.

Tessa says they can play Aria’s favorite game so that when she comes home, Mariah can play with her. She says that she’s going to perform the song she wrote with Daniel and Danny’s wedding; Mariah has to come and see it!

Mariah shakes her head. “That’s not going to happen.”

Tessa lays down a Queen of Hearts and says it reminds her of Mariah before “this” happened. Now she’s lost, and it’s breaking her heart. She feels that this therapy is hurting her more than it’s helping her. She’s going to do something that Mariah doesn’t want; she’s going to get her out and take her home!

Mariah says that this is part of the process. She has to dig through the muck that brought her here in order to make it through the other side. She has to do it alone, and she has to do it here.

Tessa says they’re married, and she can’t keep coming back here and do nothing.

Mariah agrees. Tessa should just not come to see her anymore.

Tessa cries as she hugs Mariah.

Mariah pulls away. “I can’t.” She leaves the room.

Tessa sits down and cries. She tears the Queen of Hearts in half.
