aniel meets with Mariah at the overlook. He lets her know that he never told Tessa about their meeting.

Mariah apologizes for “all the secrecy.” She can’t imagine what he thinks of her right now.

Daniel shrugs. He’s the last person to judge anyone! He wants to know how she’s doing.

Mariah thinks that’s a loaded question; she’s sure Tessa told him the worst of it!

Daniel says Tessa only said Mariah was dealing with some challenges and needed time to work through it.

Mariah nods. The short of it is that she’s a mess!

Daniel thinks it might help if she was open with Tessa about what was going on, but Mariah thinks it would be overwhelming for her. Daniel says that Mariah is hurting Tessa by not telling her… Does she know Tessa loves her?

Mariah says she knows; that’s what makes it so painful! She asks how Tessa and Aria are.

Daniel thinks she should ask them herself. He wonders when Mariah sees Aria.

Daniel says they’re doing okay other than missing her terribly, but he wonders why Mariah reached out to him… Other than their guitar lessons, he’s not really close with Tessa!

Mariah says she’s seen them together, and she thinks it’s more than just guitar lessons… She thinks Daniel might be the best friend Tessa has right now.

Daniel doubts he’s Tessa’s best friend… She knows a ton of people who seem to love her!

Mariah agrees, but she’s seen the bond between them. Mariah is happy that Tessa has someone to talk to and confide in.

Daniel isn’t sure Tessa confides in him. He reassures Mariah that Tessa has never said a bad word about her. He asks what Mariah wants from him.

Mariah wants to ask him for a favor… She wants him to take care of her wife; she needs him to look after Tessa and Aria and make sure they’re alright!

Mariah says she’s already done something stupid… She just needs to leave town for a while to get help.

Daniel thinks Tessa will worry about her the whole time she’s gone.

Mariah knows, and that’s why she needs him… She needs him to be there for Tessa so that one day, she can come back and make this all up to her.

Daniel nods. He’s happy to help.

Mariah thanks him. She owes him!

Daniel says she doesn’t owe him. He says that she reminds him of Cassie, and he wonders what advice Cassie would be giving her twin sister right now.

Mariah wants him to know she doesn’t blame him for his part in Cassie’s death. That was years ago, and they were kids at the time!

Daniel thinks that if Cassie was here, she’d know just what to say and do.

Mariah wonders what it would be like to have grown up with a twin sister.

Daniel thinks Cassie would want her to be honest with her partner… Just be honest with Tessa!

Mariah says she’s not the same person as Cassie… She’s not loving and kind the way Cassie was! Cassie would never have done what she did!

Daniel asks what it is that Mariah has done.

Mariah dances around it and says she doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. She asks him to be a friend for Tessa.

Daniel says he will… On one condition! She needs to take the time away to heal. She needs to do it for Tessa and Aria; they love her!

Mariah says she loves them, too… More than anything! She hugs Daniel, thanks him, and leaves the park.
