Phyllis walks into the restaurant and sees Victor. She leans against the bar and says hello.

Victor asks her to join him, and she takes a seat. He understands she’s attached at the hip with Cane Ashby.

Phyllis laughs. She has a great working relationship with Cane.

Victor wonders why she’s conniving with the “lowest of the low.”

Phyllis thinks he’s insulting. Cane offered her a job and in return, she’s giving him her expertise and loyalty.

Victor says blind loyalty is dangerous.

Phyllis scoffs. She isn’t blind, and she knows what she wants… Everything! She loves to see that Victor is rattled. He knows that Cane is coming for him, right?

Victor shrugs. He’s more curious than anything.

Phyllis thinks he’s curious because he’s nervous. Why would he have asked her to join him otherwise? He obviously wants information from her.

Victor says he wants to warn her… What’s she looking to get out of her working relationship with Cane?

Phyllis says she won’t tell him anything. She and Cane are going right to the top!

Victor warns her that Cane might damage Nick and Summer, but he thinks that doesn’t matter to her… She’s desperate!

Phyllis says she wouldn’t do anything to hurt her children. She may have faked her death, but she’s made amends with her children, and they’re in a good place now. She thinks Victor is in trouble. His days of being on top are coming to an end!

Victor says he’d still be ruthless if he lost everything and he’d climb to the top again, but Phyllis is as delusional as always.

Phyllis says she hates the way he disrespects her. Cane respects her!

Victor smiles. She and Cane fit. They’re both ambitious, respect, and legitmacy. They deserve each other, and they both deserve the fall that’s coming.

Phyllis says she brings more to the table than Victor knows. She’s grabbing the brass ring, and nobody’s taking it away!

Victor grins. “We’ll see about that!” He gets the bartender to put Phyllis’s drink on his tab and leaves the restaurant.

Nick meets him outside. He’s on the way in to get breakfast before he goes to LA.

Victor tells him to stay in town… He needs him there, and warns him that Cane may retaliate when he gets word of Newman Media’s hit piece. He leaves.

Nick sees Phyllis eating breakfast and joins her.

Phyllis says Victor asked her to join him and was very interested in her employment status. She’s curious… Isn’t Nick supposed to be in LA right now? He must have stayed because of Cane! She figures Cane has Victor’s cage rattled, which is great.

Nick says that Cane is being diabolical, and a lot of people are going to get hurt, but Phyllis doesn’t seem to care.

Phyllis says she doesn’t care that Victor will get what’s coming to him.

Nick says it’s not just Victor who’s going to get hurt… It’s Victor’s whole family, including Nick!

Phyllis scoffs. He’s judging her again; he’s probably upset that she’s going to accomplish something like this on her own!

Nick says she’s enough on her own. She’s talented and could go this alone! If she wants respect, she needs to trust herself.

Phyllis says that’s never worked for her.

Nick thinks she needs to step back and realize that Cane isn’t the right one to help her… He’s just setting her up.

Phyllis asks what Nick wants out of life.

Nick knows she’s deflecting, but he says he just wants his kids to be happy. He’s happy, he has his family, his health, and his job.

Phyllis laughs. There’s no place like home!

Nick says working side-by-side with his family is exactly where he wants to be.

Phyllis says she doesn’t get the same treatment… She doesn’t have a rich daddy who gave her a part of his company; all she got was guilt and shame!

Nick says it’s not Phyllis’s fault that her father was a con man who swindled people out of their life savings… She stepped up and turned him in; she could do the same thing here! Cane doesn’t like to play by the rules and doesn’t mind hurting people to get what he wants. Does she really want to work for someone who could turn out to be just like her dad?

Phyllis gets up, annoyed with him.

Nick says it’s her life they’re talking about… She doesn’t need Cane; why doesn’t she work somewhere else?

Phyllis says that if Nick really wants to help her, he should just stay out of her way. She grabs her purse and leaves the restaurant.
