The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Michael Goes Deeper Undercover as Victor Pulls the Strings
The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) made a promise to his wife and then broke it.
Viewers wonder why Genoa City, Wisconsin’s, top attorney, who is financially comfortable and could retire, still feels compelled to be in with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
Victor used Michael as a form of tool for decades. In this instance, the term “fixer” is worn. It translates to someone who cleans up the mess an employer created.
Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) is wealthy and heads Fenmore’s. Her family’s business means she alone could carry Michael into retirement if he hadn’t already earned all the dirty money Victor paid him through these soapy years.
Yet, Le Blanc’s character not only returned to work for Victor, after recently quitting, but he’s also involved in a dangerous double-agent game.
Taking Lauren Fenmore For Granted
If Michael had never walked away from Victor, then this would be different. But his recent decision to, in effect, retire pleased Lauren immensely.
She has been increasingly concerned about her husband’s well-being since Michael was kidnapped in a foreign country while working on one of Victor’s tasks.
It was that event that eventually led him to agree with Lauren that doing the Moustache’s bidding didn’t make sense at this point in life.
Yet, Michael reinforced deep personal emotions when he told Victor that he had served as a father figure for him.
That came after the Ian Ward (Ray Wise) threat at the Ranch and his apparent death. So, Michael’s belief that Victor is a father figure is the reason why he hasn’t been able to fully break from him.
Cane Ashby Is A User
This new version of Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) is a schemer. While Daniel Goddard’s (Cane) original edition was no saint, he never possessed the vast wealth that the character Flynn now portrays does.
Cane intends to take control of GC’s legacy companies, with Newman Enterprises being the major prize. That’s what makes his acceptance of Michael into the inner circle suspicious.
Why would someone who is so cautious and calculating risk work with Michael? Cane has to believe, even slightly, that Michael is playing him. If Cane doesn’t, then he doesn’t represent the level of threat Victor believes he represents.
Michael Baldwin Redeems Himself Again?
There is no full redemption with Victor. He plays people, including family members, so they always feel on edge.
Michael accepted the assignment as Victor’s mole at Arabesque to be a source of inside information, to prevent Cane from succeeding.
But Cane’s newest attorney has to dance around Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), who knows Michael better than anyone in this den of intended daytime thieves.
Plus, there is the Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) factor, which could prove helpful or disastrous. There’s no way to tell how Billy’s quest for Chancellor will impact this complex effort.
Lauren’s love means more to Michael than anything. But a decision has been made.
Michael believes he can work Cane, satisfy Victor, and keep Lauren from worrying about his sanity. That type of multitasking is one even this most skilled attorney will have difficulty achieving this fall.
