Jack is on the phone with Diane, talking about Victor’s media attack on Cane. He thinks it’s reckless; Cane could retaliate! He ends the call when Jill walks into his office. “You finally grace me with your presence!”

Jill says she won’t be in town long… Jack should start making the most of her valuable time! She’s heading to London for some treatments soon.

Jack worries that the stress she’s dealing with could be harmful.

Jill says she’s fine, if it weren’t for Billy’s take on things. She shares that she went to see Cane first, and Billy was there, got angry at her for seeing Cane first, and left. She hasn’t been able to get ahold of him since.

Jack nods. He’s familiar with how Billy deals with sibling rivalry, but the rift Billy has with Jill is bigger than any rivalry he has with Cane.

Jack says it was the way she did it… And she sold it to Victor! He says he’ll try to talk to Billy, but he’s not on good terms with him right now, either. He says he had to cut Billy loose to sink or swim on his own!

Jill can’t believe Jack would do that. He can’t turn his back on family when they need him most!

Jack knows it. He’s not turning his back on Billy, but he needs to learn how to cope on his own.

Jill suggests they change the subject from Billy to Cane.

Jack laughs. It might be too late to stop that train from going off the tracks, but things have changed since Victor launched his media hit piece.

Jill knows. She had a front-row seat when Lily burst in while she was talking to Cane. Cane was focused on winning his children back, not revenge.

Jack thought there was a chance for peace, but now Victor has escalated things.

Jill knows Cane is angry, but she doesn’t think he’s dangerous. She thinks she made him see that he needed to do whatever he could to make amends with Lily and his kids instead of going after some perceived enemies.

Jack asks what she thinks about the allegations about Colin and Cane… Does she believe them?

Jill isn’t sure, but if anyone was able to swindle his way into a French winery with a chateau and fortune attached… That’d be Colin! She says Cane is terrified that the smear on Colin’s name might be true, and that his father was lying to him the whole time. It’s been a huge kick in the gut for him!

Jack doesn’t believe that Cane’s questions about the source of his billions are keeping him awake at night. He reminds her that Cane’s original plan was to steal their companies out from under them.

Jill doesn’t think Cane is his father’s son in that respect.

Jack can’t believe that she got close to Colin again, especially after his last scam was to alter Katherine’s will.

Jill says that Colin became a different person in those last days. If only Jack had seen the man Cane had become and the bond he’d formed with his father! Cane was proud of what they’d built, and if that turns out to be a lie, then everything Cane has will burn to ashes.

Jack doesn’t want to sound cold, but maybe that’s just what Cane needs.
